What is that duration, you may ask? Well, different institutions, companies, critics, and academics will have their own specifications, but I follow the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science rules: any work that is forty minutes or less constitutes as a short film, and anything longer is a feature. Short films have their own forms of constraint: you have to attract viewers, get points across, and have all ideas come to fruition in a limited amount of time.
